Professional Welcome

Welcome to the professional section of my blog. The blog entries in this section are intended to cover subjects in my primary areas of expertise, particularly accounting and information technology. Design, consulting and business related topics are some of the other areas I have focused on in the past. My resume can be reviewed at http://www.tylerhosting.com/dbell/resume to see what projects I have been involved with in these areas.

The categories are not broken down further, but the following are some of subjects of interest in each of the areas that I anticipate discussing.

Accounting
Taxation, consulting, non-profit

Business
Manufacturing, inventory control

Consulting
Small business

Financial Planning
Individual financial, retirement, and tax planning

Information Technology
Web development, database development, software, project management

Tax Accounting
Individual and business tax law, preparation, and planning

The efforts in this section will also be focused on identifying solutions in these areas than discussing personal concerns. When I consolidated my blogs into one I decided to leave most of the older log entries of a personal nature in a separate section for now.

Book break

August 21st, 2012
Today I got another break from the books. Yesterday I mowed our grass and did a little yard work. Part of that work involved getting the chain saw out and trying to use it. The chain was dangling when I started so it wasn't surprising when it came off.… more »

The Evolving Research Review Method

August 19th, 2012
Follow-up Earlier I talked about using a "Research Review Method" to study for the CPA exam. I used that for the first time through the material. Some of the material was new, so it wasn't really review. The previous entry on the Research Review Method… more »

Financial Planning

July 15th, 2012
It's hard to plan in uncertainty that we have in congress today. At least, that's the common sentiment I keep hearing. The uncertainty, of course, is whether or not the Bush tax cuts will be extended. Such was the uncertainty a year ago as well. When pe… more »
